Edo Squid

Arguably the best Italian restaurant in Richmond and simultaneously a (literal) hidden gem, Edo Squid features excellent seafood options and a variety of pasta dishes. Don’t let the confusing entrance intimidate you; once you’re there, you’ll know it by the incredible smells.

Akida Japanese

Hands down the best sushi spot in Richmond, Akida fills up quickly, but is worth the wait. Its reasonably priced combination platters are popular, but we’re partial to the chirashi.

Mama J’s

A Richmond classic, Mama J’s is the perfect choice if you just want some no-frills soul food. We recommend the catfish, yams, and cobbler. But you can’t go wrong with anything.

Belmont Food Shop

This teeny-tiny museum district outpost works from a reasonably-priced prix-fixe menu and is great for a date night. Their dishes are perfectly arranged and compliment one another perfectly. I mean, come on, look at this mouth-watering steak:

Hot Chick

Richmond’s newest hot chicken joint delivers the goods; featuring a perfectly cooked hot chicken sandwich, a killer brunch selection, and stick-to-your-arteries desserts, Hot Chick is worth a trip.
