Dogwood Dog of the Week: Barrett

It’s time for our latest edition of the Dogwood Dog of the Week. This week, we we would like to introduce you to our adorable pal Barrett over at the Fredericksburg SPCA.

Here’s what Fredericksburg SPCA had to say about Barrett:

Barrett is a smiley, bouncing bundle of BOY! He’s a dude’s dude through and through! His favorite activity is rough and tumble play groups with the other dogs in our care. He can go from making his own touchdowns outside to lounging on the couch beside you watching Sunday football on TV (as long as you provide the snacks and belly rubs).

You’d never know this guy clocks in at 6 years old! He has the stamina of a two year old and can keep up with the other bros in the yard just fine! As much as he adores his doggie pals, Barrett LOVES people and attention! He’s gone to our events like the annual Soggy Doggy Swim and enjoyed getting love from other people and playing with the other dogs. He goes out for Adventure Tails numerous times a week, and is reported to love the car and has done well around kids. 

Barrett has been with us for a few months now and keeps getting passed over – and we don’t know why! Black dogs statistically have a harder time getting adopted, so HeARTs Speak came to the Fredericksburg SPCA and donated a camera and studio equipment from Savage Unviversal so that dogs like Barrett could get some great adoption headshots for their “dating profile”  Barrett was sure to show off his boyish grin during his photo shoot!

A quick update from his current foster mother:

“Barrett has been living his best life this past week! He has chilled out so much outside of the shelter. He is now acting a little more like the 6.5 year old he is! He is doing great walking on the leash! He also did amazing at the PetValu event this past weekend He enjoys sunrise walks, the dog park, car rides, LOVES snuggling with Reia & I , being a couch potato, being less than 2 feet away from me at all times & unexpectedly jumping in my showers”
