With her far-right ideology and flagrant comments on rape victims and LGBTQ people, state Sen. Amanda Chase (R-11) is extremely disliked among Virginia Democrats. Now, she’s been kicked out of her own party, too.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that Chesterfield County GOP notified Chase on Monday that she was being booted from the local party following a series of controversies that upset other Republicans, including her public attacks on Sheriff Karl Leonard.
In March, Chase got into an altercation with a Capitol police officer and made even bigger waves in June when she waded into the debate over gun laws on Facebook and said “it’s those who are naive and unprepared that end up raped.”
In August, The Dogwood reported that Chase accepted $28,000 in out-of-state donations, after she introduced legislation banning such donations.
Chase is running against Democrat Amanda Pohl, an educator and social worker who lives in Chesterfield.
