If you’re looking for a green beer, you’re in luck.
Several Virginia breweries, festivals, bars, and more will serve up the signature drink for St. Patrick’s Day.
Big Buns
Locations: 4401 Wilson Blvd., Arlington; 4251 Campbell Ave., Arlington; and 1336 Chain Bridge Rd., McLean
From now through Thursday, Mar. 19, stop in at one of Virginia’s Big Buns locations to sample fresh spins on traditional favorites. The star of the show is the Blarney Burger, featuring grilled Angus, corned beef, melty Swiss, kraut, and grain mustard. Other favorites include the Luck o’Irish Shamrock Shake, Guinness beer and, of course, green beer.
St. Paddy’s Day Palooza at Punch Bowl Social
Location: 4238 Wilson Blvd., #Ste 1180, Arlington
Starting today, Mar. 13, and going through Tuesday, Mar. 17, Punch Bowl Social has a variety of special menu offerings. Green beer is available for $6, and guests will receive free party favors while supplies last. The songs on the weekend playlist will also have an Irish flair. Don’t forget to bowl a game or show off your karaoke skills while you’re there.
New Realm Brewing Co.
Location: 1209 Craft Ln., Virginia Beach
Kickoff your weekend celebrations at New Realm Brewing Co. and you’ll be treated to a live performance from Scottish pipe band Tidewater Pipes & Drums from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 13. The following day, the fun starts at noon for the St. Patrick’s Day Festival. Attendees can enjoy Irish food, Irish cocktails, a vendor market, a bounce house–and of course, there’s green beer.
St. Patrick’s Day Block Party at Scott’s Addition
Location: 3117 West Leigh St., Ste A, Richmond
On Saturday, Mar. 14, a block party will commence at Scott’s Addition in Richmond. In addition to green beer, there will be local vendors on site, live music, delicious food, and plenty of fun. The event runs from noon until 8 p.m. and tickets are available here.
St. Paddy’s Party at Smoke BBQ
Location: 10900 Warwick Blvd., Newport News
Both Saturday, Mar. 14 and Sunday, Mar. 15, Smoke BBQ is the place to be for festive fun. Enjoy live bands, specialty green beer, amazing food straight off the smoker, and Irish fare. If you’re in town on Tuesday, Mar. 17, the restaurant encourages guests to wear their “best green garb.”
Makers Union
Locations: 42841 Creek View Plaza, Ste #145, Ashburn; 1450 South Eads St., Ste 65, Arlington; 1811 Library St., Reston; and 664 Maine Ave. SW, Washington, DC
The annual Shamrock Shindig is back in action at Makers Union. From Saturday, Mar. 14, throughTuesday, Mar. 17, all locations will serve green beer, green Jell-O shots, Guinness, Irish food, and more. On Mar. 14, the Reston location will have music from a DJ from 9 p.m. until close of business. All locations will enjoy live music from 5 to 8 p.m. on St. Patrick’s Day.
