Virginia Rep. James Walkinshaw pressed Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin over expensive aircraft purchased during former Secretary Kristi Noem’s tenure, asking whether DHS would sell two Gulfstream G700s and a luxury Boeing 737 rather than continue using them for government travel. The Boeing 737 was publicly justified in part as an aircraft that could be used for deportation flights, but its luxury configuration drew scrutiny over how well it fit that use case. The plane reportedly includes just 18 passenger seats along with amenities such as a bedroom, showers, a kitchen and a bar.
