Has the time change completely thrown anyone else? I feel like it’s dominated every aspect of our week so far. On Monday, we didn’t know what to do with the extra daylight, so my husband offered to take our son and me out for ice cream.
While we were enjoying our snack, naturally, we thought about dinner, so we headed over to Carl’s Place in Penhook near Smith Mountain Lake for some good ol’ country cooking. It was excellent. It was also 6 p.m. “old time”—and we usually don’t eat until around 8 p.m. Cue, midnight. We were all still up because, well, time change. And we were starting to get peckish.
Our neighbors had given us some farm-fresh eggs a couple of days prior. I had some turkey bacon in the fridge. And I had just enough leftover mashed potatoes to fry up three potato cakes. So yes, we had a midnight picnic in our pajamas with breakfast food—and that ended up being our favorite part of the whole entire day. I hope you’re adjusting well to the time change because I’m so glad you’re here.
