As cases of the novel coronavirus continue to spread across throughout Virginia, we decided to take a look at how some of the state’s biggest hospitals performed in government quality ratings, especially when it comes to infectious diseases.
Below we have compiled detailed information from Medicare’s Hospital Compare website, including the number of clostridium difficile (c diff) and methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections each institution reported. Studies link these infections to longer hospital stays, and a hospital that is able to keep those infection numbers low might be better prepared to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.
