Virginia is for music lovers—and the commonwealth’s craving for vinyl is apparent in the many record stores throughout the state.

From the capital city to the shore, here are some of Virginia’s best record and music stores.

Deep Groove (Richmond)

Deep Groove has served the Richmond area for 15 years, and it remains a go-to for new and used vinyl. This small store packs a big punch with its wide selection of records. If you are looking to make some cash for records you don’t use anymore, they’ll buy it; so be sure to stop by and check out their new releases

Wax Moon (Richmond)

Visiting Wax Moon Records is an experience in itself. Wax Moon buys, sells, and trades records and DVDs, so if you’re looking for an old movie you watched as a child, chances are they have it. While Wax Moon’s records and videos are the store’s main draw, many stay for the arcade games in the back of the shop. Be sure to check out Wax Moon for yourself, and keep up with them on their social media accounts.

Dig! Records and Vintage (Leesburg)

Just shy of the nation’s capital is Dig! Records in Leesburg. Dig is your one-stop shop for records and vintage clothes. This store is constantly getting in new arrivals, like Charlie XCX, as well as oldies but goodies, like Prince and Madonna. Dig has a little bit of everything for everyone, so be sure to check them out

Crooked Beat Records (Alexandria)

Crooked Beat Records is the place for rare and indie vinyl records. Their store specializes in records you won’t find at just any old store, so they’re a great place if you’re looking to try something new. Visit Crooked Beat Records for all of your independent label and unique vinyl needs.

Vinyl Daze Records (Virginia Beach)

Vinyl Daze Records is one of the best vinyl shops in Hampton Roads. Located just blocks from Virginia Beach’s Oceanfront, Vinyl Daze has a plethora of affordably priced new and used vinyl records. Support this small business by stopping by their store and seeing what they have in stock on their social media.

Not For the Weak Records (Norfolk)

Located in Norfolk’s Historic Freemason District is Not for the Weak Records. This place is not your average record store. Instead, Not for the Weak is a recording studio and a label wrapped up in a record store. They specialize in independent and local artists and sell their records for the community to enjoy. Hardcore punk records are their bread and butter, but they have something for everyone, so be sure to stop by and check out their selection.

River View Vinyl (Lynchburg)

River View is an event space, record, and cassette store all wrapped up into one. Are you looking to deviate from normal record shopping? Then check out their wall of cassette tapes for sale instead!

River View Vinyl isn’t just a record shop; it transforms into a stage for local musicians to perform for the community. Be sure to support River View Vinyl in Lynchburg.
