Virginia law requires schools to offer necessary hygiene items like pads and tampons for free—but without state funding, many can’t. For the second year in a row, lawmakers left a proposed $250K grant out of the 2025 Virginia General Assembly budget, forcing students to rely on donations or go without.
Until the state provides funding, nonprofits and communities are left to fill the gap.
