Virginia Democrats could end up winning as many as 64 seats in the state House of Delegates when all is said and done.
Virginia Democrats expanded their control of the state House of Delegates on Tuesday, picking up several seats. As of 10:25 p.m. Tuesday evening, they’d won 56 seats compared to just 25 for Republicans, with 19 races uncalled, according to VPAP.
It’s also a sign that Democrats have a mandate from voters on their broad promises to address the affordability crisis in Virginia and fight back on Trump administration policies.
The Virginia Senate, the upper chamber of the General Assembly, was not on the ballot this year. Democrats control the state Senate with a 21-19 advantage over Republicans.
