UPDATE 3/19/19: Chesterfield PD Police Chief has Recommended the firing of the Officer mentioned in this story, now identified as Daniel Morley.
Chesterfield County police are investigating allegations that one of its officers is part of a white supremacist organization.
The Officer’s secret came to public light after the Richmond Times-Dispatch received an email from a member of the Colorado Springs branch of Antifa (a left-wing anti-fascist group) claiming that a Chesterfield police officer has been a neo-Nazi since 2006 and has posted on white supremacist websites including Stormfront.
The Times-Dispatch sent the email to Chesterfield police officials, who are now investigating the claims.
“We are concerned and committed to determining if there is any truth to these allegations. There is absolutely no place for intolerance or prejudicial behavior in public service, and we will not tolerate affiliations which even remotely lend themselves to predispositions of bias,” said Chesterfield Police Chief Jeffrey Katz.
The concern about racism in Chesterfield County comes, amidst a political shift in the County and on the heels of the close election of Democrat Abigail Spanberger to Congress. According to the Richmond Times Dispatch, this political shift could mean trouble for State Sen. Glen Sturtevant (R-Richmond, SD-10) and his re-election effort, particularly given his vote against the popular expansion of Medicaid.
