For the first time in decades, the Virginia Beach Dome is back! After its closure in 1993, the Dome was rebuilt and is ready to make history once again.
Known for hosting legends like Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, and Louis Armstrong, the Virginia Beach Dome is back at it with a newly renovated venue.
The original venue was first built in the 1950s, and was a go-to for big-name performances until 1994 when the building was demolished.
But now, the Dome is back and better than ever! This indoor and outdoor venue is in Atlantic Park at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. This $300 million facility boasts 5,000 seats, and is prepared for just about any event you can imagine.
The Dome’s first concert takes place on May 4. The band, Three Dog Night, was the last band to perform at the old venue. In a fun twist, organizers felt it was only right that Three Dog Night reopen the venue they closed decades ago.
The newly renovated Dome is a part of the larger Atlantic Park project that features a hotel, apartment complex, numerous restaurants, and year-round artificial surf park.
Virginia Beach local Pharrell Williams backed the project; the Dome is expected to open this spring.

Thank you for taking the time to read our work. Before you go, we hope you'll consider supporting our values-driven journalism, which has always strived to make clear what's really at stake for Virginians and our future.
Since day one, our goal here at Dogwood has always been to empower people across the commonwealth with fact-based news and information. We believe that when people are armed with knowledge about what's happening in their local, state, and federal governments—including who is working on their behalf and who is actively trying to block efforts aimed at improving the daily lives of Virginia families—they will be inspired to become civically engaged.
