Spring is, well, springing! With the warmer weather among us, you may find yourself searching for activities to do outdoors. We’ve rounded up some of our top picks for things to do in Virginia, now that spring is here.

Virginia Creeper Trail
Location: Damascus to Whitetop
The Virginia Creeper Trail is a 34-mile long trail located in Southwestern Virginia. The Virginia Creeper Trail offers rich history, while immersing visitors in the mountainous outdoor environment. If you are a walker, biker, or even just a brisk walker, the Virginia Creeper Trail is the perfect place for you to visit this spring.
Of note, the trail sustained damage during Hurricane Helene in Sept. 2024. As of publication, Virginia Creeper Trail remains open from Abingdon to Trestle 16 in Damascus. The remaining 17 miles of trail from Damascus to Whitetop on the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area are closed.
National Bridge State Park

National Bridge State Park is a must-see attraction, thanks both to the historical significance and the bridge’s natural beauty. National Bridge is a limestone arch that was formed by Cedar Creek, which flows from the James River.
The 215-foot arch was once owned by Thomas Jefferson—and rumor has it that George Washington once carved his initials into the side of the rockface.
Shenandoah Valley National Park

Great Falls Park

Monticello Wine Trail

George Washington’s Mount Vernon

George Washington’s Mount Vernon, located just 15 miles south of Washington, DC, is full of rich American history. This is a historic plantation farm that is located just off the banks of the Potomac River.

National Cherry Blossom Festival

Cherry Blossom Festival in Red Wing Park 1

If you are looking for a fun spring adventure and are near the 757 area code, then the Cherry Blossom Festival in Red Wing Park 1 is the place for you. Virginia Beach is offering week-long, Japanese culture events to immerse yourself in the cherry blossom experience.
The Cherry Blossom Festival in Red Wing Park 1 is happening Mar. 29 and 30, as well as the weekend of Apr. 5—since that’s when the cherry blossoms will be at peak bloom. Be sure to check out this unforgettable experience in Virginia Beach this spring.
Fredericksburg Brewfest
