Sushi can be controversial for many folks. To start, some people really hate the idea of raw fish. Secondly, some people play fast and loose with said raw fish, eating sushi from grocery stores or questionable restaurants. For those of you who pride yourselves on only eating quality sushi, we got you. We tasked our readers with voting in the first ever Virginia Beach Food Guide, and they told us their favorite sushi spots in town. Now, we’re sharing those results with you all. Here are the top four sushi spots in Virginia Beach.
4. Sushi Vice
Sushi Vice is a late-night sushi spot serving up fresh rolls and delectable cocktails. In 2025, Sushi Vice was voted a winner in Coastal Virginia’s Best Of, so they obviously are doing something right. This location is perfect, just a few blocks from the beach. You can spend a day at the beach, and by 5pm as Sushi Vice is opening, you can wind down with one of their signature rolls and cocktails.
3. Orion’s
Orion’s Roof is best known for its roof (obviously). This rooftop restaurant and bar offers immaculate views of Virginia Beach, so you should visit this spot simply for the view alone. It’s an Asian fusion restaurant, offering a variety of dishes. But for those of you who enjoy sushi the most, there are rolls just for you. The Surf N Turf roll is a fan-favorite, combining lobster tail, wagyu, and truffle. The fanciest roll in town with the best view.
2. Nara Sushi
Nara Sushi is our second place winner, and patrons are impressed by the food, staff, and prices. Though the prices are lower, the quality is top notch, which is always ideal when it comes to raw fish. This place isn’t fussy, but they don’t compromise on quality at all. Not sure what to get? Nara Sushi has all of the standbys, but the yellowtail comes highly recommended.
1. Mizuno Sushi
With nearly thirty years of experience, our number one winner is Mizuno Sushi. Owned and operated by Chef Wataru Mizuno, Mizuno Sushi prides itself on an exceptional dining experience. Sourcing from the Chesapeake Bay, Mizuno acquires fresh, local ingredients to ensure a delectable dining experience. Mizuno Sushi takes the gold for many reasons, and the buttery softness of the sushi and sashimi fish is definitely one of them. Not sure what to get? Any of their specialty rolls (like the Pink Panther or the Mr. Bean) are exceptional.
