Dogwood Dogs of the Week: Khloe and Raven

It’s Monday, which means it’s time for our latest edition of our Dogwood Dog of the Week to share with you. And this time around, we’ve got TWO adorable doggos to share with you.

Without further ado, meet Raven and Khloe.

Raven and Khloe reside at the Fredericksburg SPCA. Here’s what they had to say about these fine dogs:

Raven and Khloe are true gems –  the diamonds in the rough! They are two senior, bonded gals who want nothing more than to find a retirement home together. Khloe is the peanut butter to Raven’s jelly, and Raven is the mac to Khloe’s cheese! 

Despite being 8 (Khloe) and 7 (Raven), these ladies have a Thelma and Louise attitude that captures the hearts of everyone they meet. They are laid back, but LOVE adventure. This is why they are often chosen to partake in our Adventure Tails Program.

Adventure Tails is a program designed to give our animals a day off and get them out of the chaos of communal living! It gives our community the chance to get some dog-time in without the pressure of adoption and it provides enrichment for our dogs AND our community!

Our animals get the chance to show their personalities outside of the loud, shared environment at the center and it’s a way for us to get information that we would not otherwise get (how are they around bicycles, on a leash, etc). It provides them with a day out and mental stimulation and enrichment that they do not get in the facility.

Through this program, we have learned that Khloe and Raven adore car rides. With the breeze on their snouts, they’ll be prepared and excited for anything as simple as an errand to the post office or a trip up the mountain.

These girls like their naps and snuggle time, but also really like being out and about on the town. They’ve been known to play with kids, or snooze in the shade. They’ve done it all! They are also continuing to prove that old dogs can learn new tricks, as our staff have been teaching them new things each day! 

From an outsider’s perspective, these two are perfect, but they have been with us for months with no interest. It’s because bonded pairs are often overlooked; not many people are looking to add a duo to their family. We understand the responsibility that comes with adoption and are more than happy to tell you that we offer a 7-day Foster-To -Adopt period where you can foster our animals to make sure it’s a good fit. These two would love to show you that they can be true couch potatoes with you, and be your partners in crime on the road! 

Social, friendly and adorable, Khloe and Raven prove that love is truly ageless. They love each other so much, and are waiting on someone to love them as much as they do each other. 

*Deep breath*

Someone please, please, please adopt Raven and Khloe. Give them a retirement home. Khloe can be the peanut butter to Raven’s jelly and you can be their bread! Make it happen, Virginia. Don’t let Thelma and Louise down. Let’s give the reboot a happier ending.
