Here’s our weekly round-up of upcoming events and actions.
Friday (April 17)
Norfolk City Democratic Committee: Early Voting – Greeting Voters, (RSVP for address, multiple times)
A volunteering opportunity to greet and inform voters outside of the polls.
Williamsburg JCC Indivisible: Freedom Fridays VOTE YES event, (Williamsburg, 12 – 1 p.m.)
A weekly protest outside the Williamsburg James City Courthouse. This week, this demonstration is in support of the redistricting referendum.
Saturday (April 18)
Suffolk Democratic Committee: No! Downtown Protest, (Suffolk, 10 – 11 a.m.)
A weekly anti-fascist protest on Main Street.
Indivisible: YES – Fight Back Virginia, (Fort Hunt, 9 – 11 a.m.)
A demonstration at the corner of Fort Hunt Rd. and Sherwood Hall Ln. to encourage neighbors to vote yes to redistricting by April 21.
Martinsville-Henry County Democratic Committee: Poll Greeter Volunteering Food Drive event, (Martinsville, multiple times)
A combination of an early voting poll greeting and a food drive event.
Stafford Democrats: Earth Day on the Rappahannock Festival, (Fredericksburg, 1 & 3 p.m.)
A yearly Earth Day festival on the Rappahannock River.
Sunday (April 19)
Stafford Democrats: Long Family Farmers Market, (Stafford, multiple times)
A dedicated booth during the weekly farmers market. Visitors of this booth may receive information about Virginia’s redistricting referendum.
Arlington Democrats: Arlington Young Democrats Park Clean Up and Lunch, (Arlington, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.)
A park clean-up event hosted by Arlington Young Dems.
Indivisible: Stand Together Sundays, (Newport News, 1 – 2 p.m.)
A peaceful weekly protest. This week’s theme is bring your own sign.
Monday (April 20)
Gloucester County Democratic Committee: Monthly Meeting, (Gloucester Point, 6 – 7:30 p.m.)
A monthly meeting of Gloucester Dems ahead of voting day for redistricting. This meeting will also establish poll greeter shifts.
Tuesday (April 21)
Winchester Frederick County Democrats: Election Night Happy Hour, (Winchester, 5:45 – 9 p.m.)
A pro-redistricting happy hour event.
Arlington Democrats: Election Night Party, (Arlington, 7 – 9 p.m.)
A pro-redistricting, post-Election Day party.
Thursday (April 23)
Indivisible: ICE Out For Good, (Fairfax, 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.)
A demonstration protesting ICE in Virginia, and a vigil for victims of ICE killings.
