As immigration dominates political debate, dozens of new Americans became U.S. citizens on the Fourth of July at Monticello. Judge Elizabeth Dillon welcomed everyone—from Indigenous people to those who came seeking freedom, family and a better life—with a simple message: “You are welcome.”
