It’s Juneteenth, Virginia! Whether you want chances to show your support for your African American community or if you’re looking for your regularly scheduled engagement opportunities, we have everything you need this Juneteenth and beyond. 

Here’s our weekly roundup of upcoming events and actions.

Friday (June 19)

First Baptist Church: African American Heritage Trail Soft Launch (9-11 a.m.)

A historical tour around Colonial Williamsburg focusing on the lives and contributions of its Black populations throughout time. 

Mount Vernon: Family Day for Juneteenth (9 a.m.-4 p.m.)

An educational event celebrating the Juneteenth holiday and Mount Vernon’s enslaved population’s emancipation.

Carlyle House: Specialty Tours (10-11 a.m.)

A guided tour discussing the history of Alexandria’s Carlyle House and its enslaved African Americans.

The Valentine: Mural of Jackson Ward Walking Tour (10-11:30 a.m.)

A pay-what-you-will walking tour around Richmond’s historically Black Jackson Ward neighborhood.

Ting Pavilion: Ebony Groove (5:30-8:30 p.m.)

A Juneteenth celebration with live music.

Saturday (June 20)

Suffolk Democratic Committee: No! Downtown Protest (9-10 a.m.)

A weekly pro-democracy protest on Main Street.

Henrico County: Juneteenth Celebration 2026 (4-10 p.m.)

A festival celebrating Black culture with food, music, art, and more.

City of Newport News: Juneteenth Freedom Festival (5-10 p.m.)

A free event celebrating Juneteenth at Victory Landing Park.

City of Virginia Beach: JazzTeenth Festival (10 a.m.-11 p.m.)

A day-long jazz festival honoring Juneteenth.

Sunday (June 21)

Festevents: Juneteenth Norfolk (12-8 p.m.)

A free Juneteenth festival at Norfolk‘s Town Point Park. 

Monday (June 22)

Indivisible: Mobilize Mondays (Hampton, 4:30-5:30 p.m.)

A weekly peaceful protest for progressive values.

Wednesday (June 24)

Virginia Grassroots: Resist & Persist Protest (7:30-9 a.m.)

A weekly protest at Virginia Beach’s Town Center.

Thursday (June 25)

Rebel Cafe: Get Political Party (Alexandria, 7-8:30 p.m.)

A progressive craft event at a local cafe.
