Pasta’s what on the menu at the end of the month. (Amie Knowles/Dogwood)

I looked at my bank account. So close to the end of the month, only four digits greeted me—and two of them were behind a decimal point.
The first thing I did was say a prayer of thanks. Seriously. All the bills for the month were paid. We had food in our fridge, in our cabinets, and enough moolah leftover to eat out a couple times before the next paycheck hit.
What did I not want to spend it on? Another grocery trip. Not if I could avoid it. So, I did what any respectable housewife does near the end of the month. I opened my refrigerator and went, “Hmm…”
The salmon I’d purchased earlier in the week was near its best-by date, so we needed to use that. Frozen broccoli is a staple in our house that goes with anything, so I pulled it out too. Then, I got to work on the main dish—and if you want the recipe to an amazingly good and inexpensive lemon butter pasta, click below to watch the video.
