I didn’t order enough wallpaper the first go-round, but what we got up over the weekend looks amazing. The swan faucet didn’t work out because it was too big for the sink, but that’s okay; we’ll save it for a different project. And the peel-and-stick vinyl floors? Those things are a chef’s kiss, and I’m wondering how they’d do in the rest of our house. So yes, the bathroom renovations I mentioned in last Friday’s newsletter are going well, though it’s not complete enough to share a photo yet.
In the few rare moments we weren’t busy with the remodel, we were watching home reno shows. Did you know that some HGTV programs feature folks from Virginia? If you’re curious about seeing our (real e)state in the spotlight, keep reading. I’m so glad you’re here.

Here’s what you need to know: These “House Hunters” episodes set in Virginia pack good drama, funny expectations, and heartwarming results that make them well-rounded watches.
Our top picks:
-
Merging Households in Virginia—Home-buying and blending families are both incredibly fragile missions, and in this episode, viewers get a glimpse into how heads can butt when one person wants to be extravagant while the other tends to be thrifty.
-
Northern Virginia Newlyweds—One partner is looking for a fixer-upper that will cost less up front, while the other wants a home they can move into without any further thought—something that will be perfect for them from the get-go.
-
All the Family in Virginia—A growing family is often a happy one, but finding enough space for everyone to gleefully coexist is another question entirely. A couple struggles to decide whether to purchase a home that’s flashy or more affordable but still modern and fresh.
Enjoy the thrill of house hunting? Then be sure to read about our state shining on television.
