Republicans have consistently used the threat of “voter fraud” to push legislation that makes it harder to vote. There are dozens of examples of false cries of voter fraud being debunked across the country. However, Virginia Republicans continue to try push through legislation to fight the issue. Their efforts continued this year and forced Governor Ralph Northam to issue two vetoes on Friday, blocking two Republican-backed bills. In his veto statements, Northam says the bills would make it tougher to register to vote and would undermine Virginians’ voting rights.
