In Virginia we’re used to making history, and the campaign trail is no exception. On Tuesday, Beto O’Rourke became the first candidate to visit Virginia in the 2020 presidential contest.
But Norfolk resident Diane Allen had a first for him as well. During the q-and-a portion of the stop in Norfolk, Allen told O’Rourke she wanted him to take on Trump, and emphasized her message with a musical flourish.
“I want you to knock him down,” Allen said, shaking the tambourine she brought to the event.
O’Rourke laughed and said it was the first time anyone has brought a tambourine to any of his events.
