Prince William County kills massive data center project after residents push back

Prince William County just rejected what could have been one of the largest data center developments in the world. The proposed Dulles South Innovation Center would have covered nearly 2,000 acres in rural Prince William County — bigger than the University of Maryland’s campus and large enough to fit 22 Tysons Corner Center malls. After fierce community opposition, supervisors voted unanimously to stop the project from moving forward. It’s the second major data center proposal effectively killed in the county in just one week.
