Hey, ya’ll. It’s Amie Knowles, Dogwood’s newsletter editor.
Let me tell you a little story: Back in 2021, Dogwood’s newsletter was taking an unplanned nap. We had a loyal, but small, group of around 2,000 readers. That’s when I stepped in to shake things up. We started slowly, sending out a once-a-week update filled with news and stories we knew mattered to Virginians. Then we bumped it up to three times a week. And now? We’re in your inbox every weekday, Monday through Friday. Today, we’ve grown to more than 35,000 subscribers (and counting!), and I couldn’t be prouder of this incredible community.
So, what can you expect from Dogwood’s flagship newsletter? I like to call it a bright spot in your inbox. Sure, you’ll get the latest Virginia headlines—from education updates and economic shifts to big conversations around reproductive rights—but you’ll also find the good stuff: The quirky events happening in your town, the festivals you didn’t know you needed to check out, and the must-try restaurants popping up across the state.
My approach is simple: Promote the positive. Life is heavy enough. That’s why I make sure that every edition of the newsletter has something uplifting, inspiring, or just plain fun. Whether it’s a guide to the top secret beaches for a serene evening or a roundup of Virginia-made craft beers, there’s always something worth sharing with a friend.
At Dogwood, we believe in staying informed and enjoying the ride. So buckle up—there’s so much more to explore in the commonwealth, and we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
Thanks for reading, and welcome to the Dogwood family. I’m so glad you’re here. Sign up today.
