More than 5 million Native Americans live in the United States as members of 574 federally recognized and 63 state-recognized tribes. That number is projected to rise to 10 million by 2060. Stacker ranked the states with the largest Native American populations using data from the Census Bureau’s 2021 American Community Survey.

Over 20,000 Virginians Lose Medicaid Coverage a Month Into Unwinding

Since the start of April, over 20,000 Virginians have lost Medicaid coverage as part of the state’s return to normal enrollment following the end of the COVID-19 federal public health emergency. 

For the past three years, anyone who was enrolled in Medicaid was allowed to keep their coverage regardless of whether or not they still met eligibility requirements.
