Election Day in Virginia and across the country is Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. If you’re planning to vote in the election, which includes high-profile races for the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives, there are a lot of other important dates to keep in mind before you head to the polls.
Here’s your calendar of key dates in Virginia’s 2026 midterm elections:
Friday, SEPTEMBER 18–Saturday, OCTOBER 31: No-excuse in-person early voting is available to all registered voters. Hours vary by county.
Friday, OCTOBER 23: This is your last day to register to vote in the general election without using a provisional ballot. You can register online using Dogwood’s voter registration tool before 4 p.m. local time. You can register through Election Day, but must use a provisional ballot.
Friday, OCTOBER 23: This is the deadline to request a mail-in absentee ballot online.
Tuesday, NOVEMBER 3: Election Day. This is the last day to vote in Virginia’s midterm elections. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. As long as you are in line by 7 p.m., you will be able to vote. Mailed absentee ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by the registrar by noon three days post-Election Day.
